Head of Maintenance – Caribbean

As the Head of Maintenance at a leading company in the Caribbean. This is an international post, full relocation offered with work visa. * Not remote*

In the position you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of our extensive range of machinery, equipment, and infrastructure. You will be responsible for overseeing all maintenance activities across our manufacturing, distribution, and construction support operations. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to preventive maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance Strategy Development: Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance strategies to optimize the performance and longevity of all machinery, equipment, and facilities.
  • Team Management: Lead and manage a team of technicians and engineers, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure their continued professional development and effectiveness in carrying out maintenance tasks.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Establish preventive maintenance schedules and procedures to minimize downtime, reduce repair costs, and enhance operational efficiency across all departments.
  • Parts Management: Oversee the management of parts inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels, timely procurement, and efficient utilization to support maintenance activities and minimize disruptions.
  • Troubleshooting and Repair: Coordinate troubleshooting efforts and oversee repair activities to address equipment breakdowns and malfunctions promptly, minimizing production delays and ensuring safety standards are upheld.
  • Vendor Management: Collaborate with external vendors, suppliers, and contractors to procure parts, equipment, and services as needed, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to quality standards.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, codes, and safety standards governing maintenance activities, conducting regular audits and inspections to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance processes, technologies, and practices, striving for excellence in reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in maintenance management within a heavy-duty manufacturing or construction environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to preventive maintenance.
  • Sound knowledge of preventive maintenance principles, techniques, and best practices.
  • Familiarity with parts management systems and inventory control procedures.
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and drawings.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
  • Certification in maintenance management or related fields is a plus.
